Program Description
SINGAPORE & MALAYSIA: CITY IN A GARDEN: BIOPHILIC URBANISM
- May 18-30, 2027
- Credits: HORT 49100 or LA 48100 – 3 credits
- Cost: TBD which includes international medical insurance, housing, admission fees, transportation in country and 3 credits. It does not include meals, airfare, personal expenses or souvenirs.

Explore how Singapore and Malaysia are creating innovative cities where nature and urban life exist side by side. Discover Singapore’s vision of a “City in a Garden” through visits to iconic green spaces, vertical gardens, sustainable buildings, and innovative urban agriculture projects. Travel beyond the city to experience Malaysia’s diverse landscapes, food systems, and approaches to sustainability. Along the way, learn how urban planners, farmers, architects, and communities are using nature to address challenges such as climate change, food security, and rapid urbanization. Experience the vibrant cultures, foods, and traditions of Southeast Asia while seeing firsthand how these countries are reimagining the future of cities. Come discover how cities can grow greener, healthier, and more connected to the natural world.
