Program Description
Cultural Neuropsychology: A Global Practicum in Brain, Behavior, and Culture
Athens, Greece | May 10–20, 2027
How does culture shape the brain, and how does the brain shape culture? In this short-term study abroad program, students travel to Athens to explore that question firsthand, using the city itself as a classroom. Guided site visits to the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, and the National Archaeological Museum become live case studies in memory, ritual, identity, and social cognition. The program also sails beyond the city, with a boat trip to the island of Aegina, where whitewashed harbors and a traditional fishing village offer a completely different lens on Greek culture and community life.

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Estimated cost: $4600
Included: airport transfer, housing, daily breakfast, transportation passes, all local excursions (Acropolis, National Archaeological Museum, Cycladic Art Museum, Ancient Agora, etc), both day trips (Delphi, Aegina), cooking class, two guest lectures, and the farewell dinner
Not included: international airfare to/from Athens
