Overview
Tsinghua University

University:  Tsinghua University is one of the highest-ranked universities in China, usually considered the best in the country for engineering.

Location:  Beijing is the political, cultural and intellectual center of the country, as well as a major industrial and commercial metropolis.  Tsinghua University is in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing and was built on the site of a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty.

Eligibility

The program is open to Purdue students who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.

GPA Requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

If students complete courses while abroad from Purdue colleges that have not approved the program, they might be able to earn transfer credit for those courses. Students interested in pursuing transfer credit should discuss this with both their academic advisor and their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Academic Program

Purdue students with advanced Chinese language ability will have no difficulty finding enough courses. Those with little or no Chinese may have difficulty finding a semester's worth of courses taught in English.

Students interested in this program must check with their own academic unit to determine if special arrangements have been made for courses and/or research opportunities for Purdue students.

Housing

Students will be housed in either single or double rooms in a Tsinghua University residence hall. Each room is equipped with a bed, desk, chair and closet. Some rooms have either private or shared bathrooms, and may come equipped with a telephone, air conditioning and television. Students take their meals at any of the several university cafeterias.
