Overview
For a truly integrated experience and the chance to study in unique programs, consider the University of Limerick. With 10,000 students, Limerick is big enough to offer a range of courses, but small enough to make students feel right at home. The University of Limerick is renowned for innovative teaching, a prestigious music and dance school and top-notch sporting. Known as "Ireland's Sports Campus", when you study at UL you can work out at the Sport Arena, watch a soccer match on the outdoor pitch, go kayaking on the shore of Lough Derg, or try to catch a glimpse of the Munster Rugby team while they train on campus!
The campus sits on the banks of the River Shannon and offers lots of beautifully landscaped green space. Limerick has a strong sense of community. Student social life revolves around ''The Stables,'' a complex with bars, restaurants, a bank, and stores. Limerick has good athletic facilities as well. Study abroad students might want to consider joining one of the Union-sponsored clubs and societies or the athletic clubs; they can help to get a better feel for campus life.

Eligibility
The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity, and a desire to experience another culture.

Academic Program
At the University of Limerick, a full course load consists of 30 ECTS credits, equivalent to 15 U.S. semester credit hours for a semester. A wide variety of courses are offered, please see the

Excursions
IFSA programs include a variety of activities and excursions. While the exact excursions may change year-to-year, an idea of what to expect is below:
Arrival orientation
2- to 4-day on-site orientation that includes transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals
2-day visit with a local family
Transportation to host university accommodation at conclusion of orientation
Excursions & activities
4-day Northern Ireland weekend, which typically includes day tour of Derry city, Antrim coastline, and Giants Causeway
Group dinners with IFSA-Butler staff in host cities

Farewell meal
Housing
Study abroad students will live on campus in a student village that offers a central clubhouse for recreation and a reception office.

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program.

For full consideration, students must submit all supporting documents (typically an essay, transcripts, 1-2 recommendations, and copy of passport) before or by the application deadline. Popular programs fill quickly, often before the deadline. To ensure a place in a program, apply early.
