Overview
The IES Berlin Center is located in Mitte, a central district of Berlin famous for its numerous restaurants and stylish boutiques, the IES Center is just a five-minute walk from the Humboldt-Universitaet Berlin, Brandenburg Gate, and German Parliament. It is housed on the ground floor of a modern red brick building and offers classrooms, a small library, a computer lab, and a student lounge with wireless internet access.
IES Abroad has three program options in Berlin:
The program dates in Berlin vary by program as well as options within the program itself. Students should check the IES website to confirm their preferred program and its dates. In addition, students wishing to participate in IES' other options in Berlin, such as enrolling in courses taught at any of the local universities, should check the IES website for any varying dates, fees, and/or other additional expenses.

Eligibility
The program is open to Purdue students who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.
Language & Area Studies Program: the language requirement is four semesters of German language courses and enrolled in a German course within the year prior to the program start date
Metropolitan Studies and Securities Studies Programs: there is no language requirement.
GPA Requirement:
2.75 on a 4.0 scale

Students interested in completing courses while abroad from Purdue colleges or departments that are not listed above should discuss this with their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.
Academic Program
No matter which program track you pick, you'll enroll in 15-19 credits for the semester.
On the Language & Area Studies track, a German language course is required and all courses are taught in German.
On the other tracks, courses are offered in English with the option to take a course taught in German if your language level allows.

Excursions are subject to change.
Even though your adventure starts in Berlin, IES field trips take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of your host country. Field trips are offered at an extra cost and may be day or overnight trips to other parts of Germany.
Field trips and cultural events can vary by semester or year, the ones listed above are for reference only and may not reflect the offerings each semester.
Housing
IES Abroad Berlin offers several housing options:
Live with Locals - You will live in a single room in a shared apartment with single adults, single parents, or families. Students typically prepare their own meals in their housing or dine in student cafeterias or affordable restaurants. Meals are not included in the program cost. All apartments include high-speed internet.
Small Studio Apartment - You will live in a single studio with a private bathroom and either a private or shared kitchenette. Students typically prepare their own meals in their housing or dine in student cafeterias or affordable restaurants. No meals are provided with this housing option. All studios include high-speed internet. Laundromats are available at extra cost.
Shared Apartment - Live with other IES Abroad Berlin students in mixed-gender?student apartments with separate rooms and shared living room, fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom. No meals are provided with this housing option. All studios include high-speed internet. Laundromats are available at no extra cost.
Estimated Program Costs
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program.
The Program Fee includes tuition and on-site orientation.
