The University of New England at Armidale, (UNE), offers students with a major in the College of Agriculture an opportunity to attain both an academic and personal appreciation for Australia. The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954.  The University of New England has four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences. Students can easily take courses in the humanities in addition to agriculture courses.

UNE is located on several sites in Armidale (pop. 22,000). The Northern campus is five kilometers to the northwest of the city center, in an attractive rural and bushland setting. The University now comprises some 260 hectares.  Students have found that Armidale has most of the facilities and benefits of a metropolitan centre with the advantages of a more relaxed and friendly environment. The city boasts exceptional music, theatre, restaurants, cafes, pubs, entertainment and sporting facilities, and a great range of shops to cater for all tastes and budgets.
