Program Description |
FR 38000 Special Topics in French Culture and Civilization: THE FRENCH FOOD CULTURE
Students enrolling in the semester long (January-May) FR 380 French Food Culture course will travel together to a French Culinary School in Greater Roanne, France (about 1 hr west of Lyon) during Spring Break. The prerequisite for FR 380 is FR 202 or four semesters of French or equivalent.
This one week cultural adventure of a lifetime includes cooking classes, a wine course, a cheese course, cultural excursions to a vineyard, an oil press, a chocolate maker, lodging in a French villa, visit to Lyon and much more. This Spring Break all-inclusive package includes tuition for the classes, lodging and meals in the villa as well as an upscale dining experience in a countryside restaurant, tour buses, excursion fees and the roundtrip airport shuttle from Lyon to Roanne.
The students will have a free afternoon in Lyon, so lunch that day is not included in the program fee. (Students usually economize by eating crêpes or pizza from street carts.)
In addition to the program fee, students will purchase an airline ticket from Indianapolis to Lyon which costs approximately $1,500 to be paid directly to our travel agent.
For pictures, see past Purdue groups at the École des Trois Ponts' website: 3ponts.edu.
A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF $500 WHICH WILL BE APPLIED TO THE PROGRAM FEE WILL BE DUE BY DECEMBER 1, 2019
After you enroll for this trip on this Study Abroad site, you will also have to enroll in FR 38000 Special Topics in French Culture and Civilization: French Food Culture as you would a normal Purdue course on MyPurdue. You'll enroll in both sections listed, one with the semester dates of Jan-May and one with the Spring Break dates of Mar 12-20.
