Overview
London is a vibrant, exciting, and culturally rich Global City. With more than 270 nationalities living here, London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world; there is no “typical Londoner.” You can enjoy cuisine from pretty much any country or culture in the world and take part in annual international celebrations such as Diwali and Chinese New Year.
This immersive study abroad program gives you insight into the significant ways in which London has been imagined, invented, and transformed by globalization.
CEA CAPA offers a variety of study abroad courses with local visits and special lectures. These courses are designed to engage students in critical thought and challenge them to pursue subjects in depth through academic research and field research in London. Students can also take advantage of CEA CAPA's extensive network of internship sites and earn academic credit while building professional skills.

Academic Program
This program offers a variety of courses, most falling under liberal arts. For example, you can take a course called Analyzing and Exploring the Global City for a multidisciplinary approach to learning about London's past, present and future or take classes focused on history, politics, communication, writing, theater, and more! Please see the CEA CAPA website for the classes, including syllabi, that are offered each semester.
Students can also elect to do a for-credit internship or service-learning class. Students opting for the internship will also take a Global Internship Course to help them get the most out of their internship experience. Students produce papers, write reflective journals, and make oral presentations examining the real learning that occurs during their internship. Students produce a portfolio at the end of the semester that must meet clear academic criteria in order for the student to attain credit for the internship.
Excursions
A daytrip to Bath and Stonehenge is included in the program fee as well as an array of cultural events and activities to help enhance the overall experience of living in a new culture. Students will receive a detailed calendar at the beginning of the program. Most of these activities will be free, however some have nominal costs.
In addition, every semester CEA CAPA organizes excursions that students can sign up for once they've arrived in London. These trips range in cost depending on the destination, inclusions, and length of the excursion.
Housing
Students can either share an apartment with other students or live with local families (home stay) where breakfast and dinner are included.
Estimated Program Costs
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program. The program fee includes: full-time tuition, housing, public transportation pass, emergency medical insurance, and excursions & activities.
Personal expenses includes local transportation.
Students in homestays will be provided breakfast and dinner by the host family.
Students opting to participate in a for-credit unpaid internship will be charged an additional internship fee.
