Everywhere you turn there is something to see, do, and taste in the bustling multicultural capital city of Madrid. Eat at the world’s oldest restaurant, Sobrino de Botin, enjoy world-famous churros at the Chocolateria San Gines, and sample tapas all over the city. Walk through the meticulously groomed palace gardens, catch a flamenco show, or attend a world-class futbol match. And don’t leave without visiting el Parque del Buen Retiro, el Rastro, and the Golden Triangle of Art museums (the Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza).
UC3M is located on the southern edge of Madrid and is made up of five campuses. Purdue students spend most of their time at Leganes (School of Engineering) and Getafe (School of Law and Social Sciences; School of Humanities, Communication, and Library Sciences).
Students have the opportunity to take classes in English while living alongside local students to fully immerse themselves in Spanish culture. Students attend an orientation program at the start of the semester; these “Welcome Days” are an opportunity for you to settle in at UC3M and meet other international and Spanish students.

Housing
UC3M offers on-campus housing or recommendations for apartment housing. Students will organize housing independently before arriving on-campus.
Students interested in on-campus housing will complete an application to stay in residence halls in Getafe or Leganes. Full-year students have on-campus housing priority, so availability may be limited. For more information on residence housing, visit this link.
UC3M also has an accomodation website that lists reliable housing agencies, if students are looking to find apartment-style housing. There are multiple options, from shared apartments with other students to host families.
Estimated Program Costs
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program.
