Overview
Trinity College Dublin is the single college of the University of Dublin, founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592. A long distinguished university when it comes to academics and scholarship, its history is linked with that of Ireland in terms of politics, letters, and social change. Currently, Trinity holds the prestigious status as one of Ireland's oldest and finest higher education institutions.
As a 400-year-old university, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has a long history of high academic quality and scholarship. It is Ireland’s oldest and one of its finest higher education institutions. TCD also houses The 7th Century Book of Kells, a masterful example of an illuminated manuscript, in its own climate controlled archive in the university’s old library and open to the public during the day.
In recent years, the college has increased its enrollment and diversity. The current student population represents 70 countries over six continents and totals more than 16,000 students.
TCD is located in the historic heart of Dublin, near St. Stephen’s Green. The campus covers about 40 acres of buildings and green space. Trinity College Dublin is about a 20-25 minute walk from the IES Abroad Dublin Center.

The program is open to Purdue students who have completed at least three semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.

Academic Program
Trinity College Dublin offers a wide variety of challenging courses and appeals primarily to those students who are ready to adapt to an entirely new academic culture that requires significant independent work.
You take 15-19 credits per semester.
You have the opportunity to enroll in Visiting Student Modules in several faculties. The Trinity application requires you to apply to the faculties you want to take courses in while at Trinity. Please choose carefully which faculties you would like to apply to as you will only be allowed to enroll in courses in the faculties you are accepted to. Students are only allowed to take Visiting Student Modules.

As a student studying at TCD through IES, you will receive additional support, registration assistance, and advising through IES, including their on-site staff in Dublin.

Excursions are subject to change.
Even though your adventure starts in Dublin, IES field trips take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of your host country. You share a portion of the cost with IES Abroad. To see examples of field trip options, please click here.
Housing
IES will arrange your housing in a private student residence with your own bedroom and bathroom within a four or five-bedroom apartment. Live with other IES Abroad students and share a fully-equipped kitchen and living area. Mixed-gender and single-gender apartments are available. The private student residence is completely furnished and has WiFi along with other amenities. No meals are included.
