Program Description

Enjoy a 4-week experience in the heart of Italy’s Tuscany and earn 6 credits!! Students will live, study and learn in picturesque Siena, Italy. Special excursions include trips to see how pasta and cheese are made, a winery tour and tasting, the picturesque Tuscan towns of San Gimignano and Chianti, and a cooking class. Siena is conveniently located an hour away from Florence and 2.5 hours from Rome. Class assignments will be all about Italy and the experiences you'll be having there. Most weeks feature one field trip day, 3 mornings in class, and a 3-day weekend so you can explore on your own.

 


Academic Credit

Courses offered:
COM 49502: Travel Writing and Promotion: Explore the world of travel bloggers an­d Instagrammers, guidebook writers, and what makes good travel writing and promotion.
COM 30300: Intercultural Communication:
Explore the complex relationship between culture and communication with a special session on Italian culture.

Eligibility

All Purdue students

All students participating in a departmental program will complete a pre and post assessment as part of program completion.

Program Cost

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.

Estimated costs: $4400

(Includes housing, tuition, Purdue fees, day trips, transportation to and from Rome airport, WiFi, and some meals).

(Does not include airfare and most meals).

Application Deadline

Applications are accepted immediately until Feb. 10. The non refundable $500 deposit must be paid by Feb. 10 to ensure your spot.
