Stunning setting for summer study abroad

Spend your summer in the French Alps earning credit toward your degree at home. The Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) offers summer programs which combine an academic experience with a rich cultural and outdoor environment. 

The Université Grenoble-Alpes (UGA) is a large, public university, enrolling about 45,000 students, and accredited by the French government. The UGA offers courses in all major disciplines: humanities and social sciences, science and medicine, engineering and technology, business and law. Particularly strong in the fields of science, technology, and health, the UGA is also committed to providing a high-quality education to the next generation of scientists and researchers.

Student surveys for the last ten years place Grenoble consistently in the top three cities in France for students. Combining the conveniences of a midsized city with a remarkable natural environment, Grenoble offers history, culture, nightlife, sports, and more. Surrounded by three Alpine ranges, the city is only 30 minutes from the closest ski slopes, and the region offers a range of outdoor activities all year round.

Eligibility

Université Grenoble Alpes- Summer School

This program is open to any Purdue student in the College of Science or the College of Engineering who has completed at least four semesters of university study.

 

GPA Requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

If students complete courses while abroad from Purdue colleges that have not approved the program, they might be able to earn transfer credit for those courses. Students interested in pursuing transfer credit should discuss this with both their academic advisor and their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Academic Program

Taught in English, Science Summer School combines high-quality training in Engineering or Physics with French language and culture. 

Course Options:

Engineering - Introduction to Physical Computing

Physics - Introduction to Large-Scale Facilities: Probing Matter with Neutron and Synchrotron Radiation


Excursions

Some excursions will be organized for the entire summer program and others will be part of the courses, to laboratories or corporations in the Grenoble vicinity.

Housing

Housing is organized by the host university.
