All outbound study abroad participants are required to attend a multi-part orientation program that includes a country- or program-specific Pre-departure Meeting. Your study abroad advisor should have given you the date, time, and place for this meeting.

Part 2: U.K. (St. Andrews) Pre-Departure Meeting


This is Part 2 of the  mandatory country-specific or program-specific meeting for students who will study abroad at the U of St. Andrews in Fall 2017 / Summer 2017 or AY 2017-2018.  Students will have a more focused program-specific conversation with invited returned and exchange students.

Intercultural Effectiveness Workshop

Intercultural competency is an absolutely necessary tool to live and work effectively in today’s interconnected world.  This one hour and a half Study Abroad Intercultural Effectiveness Session's objectives are to increase students’ understanding and awareness of cultural differences and to provide them with a set of essential skills that will enhance their global competencies and effectiveness.  We hope to accomplish these via discussions, group activities, and thought experiments.

Managing Your Money While Studying Abroad

It’s no secret that studying abroad can be one of the best college experiences you can have.  But often, in all the excitement leading up to and during your time abroad, one aspect of the trip is overlooked: how to manage your money while in a foreign country.  Even minor financial details can cause a major headache in a strange new country if you don't know what to expect or what to do.

In this workshop, I will be discussing the things you can do and options to consider when it comes to your personal finances while studying abroad.
